My stylist IS listenting!!! Late October Stitch Fix is IN!

So, I was surprised when I returned home this morning to find a Stitch Fix box on my doorstep! Two in October makes it an extra fun month! It was a crazy busy morning with work, so I didn't really have time to peek until my lunch break, but I was REALLY happy when I opened it! So, here we go!

The FIRST item I pulled out of the box was this 41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse for $58.

Initial Thoughts: I love the color. I also love the style of the shirt because I have another one just like it that is blue and white patterned. Not 100% sure I want 2 shirts so similar, but I do obviously really like it!

The SECOND item I pulled out of the box was this 41Hawthorn Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer for $78.

Initial Thoughts: Hmmm....a Blazer. Not sure i've ever owned a blazer, but this seems super cute and an interesting material. No shoulder pads and polyester like I envision blazers.

The THIRD item I pulled out of the box was this pair of Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans for $98.

Initial Thoughts: My stylist had asked me how I felt about colored skinny jeans and I told her i'd try some out, but I wanted to keep them a dark color. So, she pretty much nailed it. They are really soft and a pretty deep brown color. I'm starting to get away from my aversion of skinny jeans realizing that you don't have to be stick thin to wear them.

The FOURTH item I pulled out of the box was this Brixton Ivy Cherelle Dress for $68.

Initial Thoughts: Initially, I really thought this was the ugliest print i'd ever seen...but then I started putting it together with pieces from my wardrobe and thought it might end up being really cute. Not sure about the length or the button down front...but we'll try it.

The FIFTH item I pulled out was this Pixley Nilla Button Back Sweater for $68.

Initial Thoughts; I absolutely LOVE the color and the button down back. It just screams FALL to me. Plus, it's suuuuper soft and the stitch pattern is really cute.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

So, I was really curious about the dress and the outfit I pulled together in my head, so I tried it FIRST.

I paired it with my own navy leggings, brown boots, and a brown pendant necklace. I honestly REALLY like this look! The leggings are a must with the length and the button front for me to feel comfortable. It's light and airy and really feels nice. I think this could be dress up or dress down depending on the occasion. The only thing is that the belt loop on the right side is broken...so, i'm not spending $68 on a dress that is broken.

The SECOND outfit I tried on was the Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans and Pixley Nilla Button Back Sweater.

I paired these two together because the brown and mustard colors worked really well together. With my brown boots and brown necklace to complete the outfit, I REALLY love this. Really.

The THIRD outfit I tried was the 41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse and brown jeans.

Again, I love the color combination here. The turquoise top really pops with the brown jeans. I didn't think the turquoise was a very fall-ish color, but I see it now paired with these jeans.

The FOURTH outfit I tried was the 41Hawthorn Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer and the brown jeans.

So, I was kind of clueless as to what went with this blazer since i've never owned one. Doesn't matter a whole lot because I didn't like the fit. It was about 2 inches too short for my tastes.

THE VERDICT

1) 41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse - still on the fence with this one. I really like it paired with the brown jeans, but again - for $58, do I really want a shirt so similar to one I already own? I'll think on this one.

2) 41Hawthorn Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer - going back. For $78, the fit just isn't right and i'm not sure what to do with it. It did peak my interest, but it just didn't work out.

3) Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jean - keeping. I really like the color of these and how soft the material is.

4) Brixton Ivy Cherelle Dress - I want to keep this if I can have a replacement shipped to me at no charge. Not keeping a $68 dress if it's got a defect, as minor as it is.

5) Pixley Nilla Button Back Sweater - keeping. No question about it. I LOVE it and can't wait to wear it!

October Friday Fix!

Ok, so my Fix really came yesterday, but I was traveling for work and didn't get home until late, so I didn't do much with it until this morning when the boys headed off to school. Elliott was pretty excited about my October Fix!

I was really excited about my stylists note that there were NO tank tops in this order and it was "only fall clothes and warm colors". Awesome, because that's what I asked for! I am trying to give really good feedback each month so that next month I get a more "fitting" box of goodies. This month, I feel like an effort was made....but still missed the mark a bit.

So, let's get to it!

The FIRST item I pulled out was this Brixton Ivy Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan for $68.
Initial thoughts - it's super soft and heavy and cozy, but it's grey....bland, boring, grey....how many months have I been saying I want COLOR!?!?!?

The SECOND item I pulled was this Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater for $84.
Initial thoughts - I pinned this EXACT sweater to my pin board! I love when they send me something I really wanted! It's super cute and a weird (but fun) material. I can't really explain it, but I knew out of the box I was probably keeping this one....even though it's the most expensive thing in this Fix. Go figure.

The THIRD item I pulled was this 41Hawthorn Colibri Solit Tab Sleeve Blouse for $48.
Initial thoughts - Ooooh - 41Hawthorn has been my favorite brand....but....AWESOME...I pretty much DESPISE Hunter Green. Plus, the top is pretty boring aside from the tab sleeves. Probably going back....

The FOURTH item I pulled was this 19 Cooper Rosetta V-Neck Top for $64.
Initial thoughts - Good color, but I hate the pattern, the material feels cheep, and it looks way too short for me. Most likely going back...

The FIFTH and final item in this fix is a pair of Liverpool Denise Bootcut Jeans for $78.
Initial thoughts - I don't own black jeans....for good reason. Something about the smell of black denim that just gets to me. No matter how many times you wash them, they still smell. Anyone agree?

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The FIRST outfit I tried was the Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater and the Liverpool Denise Bootcut Jeans.
Thoughts - I really wanted to like this sweater...but it just was NOT flattering. With my hips, if it's not fitted a little, it just looks boxy...and this is exactly what's happening here. The jeans....sooooo comfy. Perfect fit, but still black and smelly.

The SECOND outfit I tried was the Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater and the black jeans.
Thoughts - I'll probably never wear this with black jeans....because these black jeans are probably going back, but I LOVE the sweater. It's warm and comfy and while it's not fitted, it still has a bit of shape that works with my figure.

The THIRD outfit I tried was the 19 Cooper Rosetta V-Neck Top and black jeans.
Thoughts - just as I thought. The cut of this shirt is too boxy and short. It does nothing to flatter my figure. Plus, I really just hate the print and the material.

The FOURTH and final outfit I tried on was the 41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse and black jeans.
Thoughts - I don't know why, but last night when I was thinking about this shirt, I kept going back to pairing it with a yellow necklace. I was hoping it would work without making me look like a Packers fan. So, With the necklace, I really kind of loved this shirt. SURPRISE! Right? It was comfy, flowy (but just enough of a shape), and really flattering. Plus, I actually REALLY liked it with the black jeans! BIGGER SURPRISE! I have yellow shoes that would complete this outfit....too much?

THE VERDICT

1) Brixton Ivy Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan - going back. I wanted to love it, but I just didn't.

2) Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater - KEEPING

3) 19 Cooper Rosetta V-Neck Top - going back. I hate almost everything about this shirt.

4) 41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse - keeping. I'm surprised, but I really like it...hunter green and all. Not to say I wouldn't like it BETTER in another color, but I think this is a good step out of my "norm" for me, and that's kind of the point, right?

5) Liverpool Denise Bootcut Jean - I'm really on the fence here. If it weren't for how they looked with the green shirt, they'd for sure be going back. Not sure I can justify a $78 pair of jeans that I don't love, though. Plus, this shirt will look just as good with the several (I mean...tons) of dark denim jeans I have. So, still mulling it over, but pretty sure these are going back.

So, an interesting fix and a mix of good, bad, and surprises! Looking forward to more fall and winter Fixes in coming months!
