FINAL Fix :(

Well, this is my 8th and FINAL fix. After my last fix failure, I decided that if my next fix isn't REALLY good, i'm cancelling. I hate to do it, but it's gotten to the point where it's not fun and is frustrating. So, here goes!

The FIRST item I pulled out of the box was this RD Style Nori Pullover Sweater for $78

Initial Thoughts - there's absolutely NOTHING special about it. It's plain, boring, and GREEN. Green is NOT my favorite color.

The SECOND item I pulled out of the box was this Le Lis Myler Keyhold Back Blouse for $48.

Initial Thoughts: Well, it's not a SOLID color, so i'm ok with that, but I don't really love floral prints. My hope is that I hate it out of the box and love it on like the dress I had a few fixes ago.

The THIRD item I pulled out of the box was this Market & Spruce Denver Cable Knit Elbow Patch Cardigan for $58.

Initial Thoughts: It's pretty plain and boring. Not a great color, but it's soft.

The FOURTH item I pulled out of this box was Just Black Dolce Bootcut Jeans for $78.

Initial Thoughts: These look OK, but I just got rid of about 10 pairs of jeans because I had too many.

The FIFTH item in the box was this If By Sea Gallen Quilted Puffer Jacket for $88.

Initial Thoughts; I need a jacket like I need more workout videos. Plus, I don't generally do puffer things. I do like that it's red and festive.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The FIRST outfit I tried was the Le Lis top with the jeans.

I really had to shimmy into the jeans, but they ended up being pretty comfy. I just wish I needed jeans. The top was just OK. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. It needed to be longer.

The SECOND outfit I tried was the RD Style sweater with the jeans.

As I expected, I didn't love this sweater. It was just blah and the neck was weird.

The THIRD outfit I tried was the Market & Spruce cardigan with the jeans.

I wasn't sure what to pair it with, so I just went with a cream tanktop. It's actually really soft and while I wasn't fond of the color out of the box, it's kind of cute. Not sure what i'd wear it with though.

The FOURTH outfit was the If By Sea jacket and jeans.

It's too short, as suspected. Don't know what else to really say about it.

THE VERDICT

80% sure it's all going back. I'm on the fence about the cardigan. So, I have until Monday to think on it. What do you think?

Holiday Picture Fix FAIL.

So, I was REALLY excited about my Fix coming today. I had asked my stylist for something red and sparkly for family pictures that we had coming up this weekend. I had even pinned a stitch fix red sparkly shirt and thought that was a direct sign to SEND IT TO ME. I guess not. Pretty disappointed with this Fix overall and now I need to scramble to find something for pictures on Sunday.

So, Here it goes.

The FIRST item I selected out of the box was the Kensie Rebekah Stretch Crepe Blazer for $88.

Initial Thoughts: I sent the Blazer back last month and said I wasn't in to Blazers. I don't know how much more clear I can be.

The SECOND item I selected out of the box was the RD Style Laylie Glitter Knit Tank for $58.

Initial Thoughts: Great, a tanktop. In November. In the midwest. At least it's quasi sparkly?

The THIRD item I selected out of the box was the Kut from the Kloth Jonathan Skinny Courdoroy for $68.

Initial Thoughts: I actually think I like these! I would probably never buy them on my own, but hey, that's the point of this, right!? And super festive!

The FOURTH item I selected was the Papermoon Sabrina Yoke Detail Blouse for $44.

Initial Thoughts: Ok, so it's cute, but it's BLACK. And even more awesome, another tanktop....

The FIFTH item I selected was the Daniel Rainn Poppins Crochet Trim Blouse for $64.

Initial Thoughts: Black and white....and a tanktop. Seriously?

So, as you can tell - if you've followed my blog at all, i'm not going to be happy with these selections. I ask for COLOR and I asked specifically for NO tanktops once we got past September. I wasn't even really excited to try them on.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGEHTER

The first outfit I tried was the Papermoon top with the Red Courdory pants.

Thoughts: The pants fit great everywhere except the waist. There is so much room around the waist it's uncomfortable. Such a disappointment because that was the only piece I was halfway excited about. I do LIKE this top, but have a hard time being too excited about it when I won't wear it until May unless I layer.

The second outfit I tried was the RD Style Glitter Tank with the pants.

Thoughts: This top fits really weird. And I don't like it. NEXT.

The third outfit I tried was the Dainiel Rainn Poppins Crochet Trim Blouse (with and without the Blazer) and the pants.

Thoughts: It's an OK top. It's an OK blouse. But, i'm not spending $88 on a Blazer when I don't really love Blazers or $64 on a tanktop that's just eh for me.

THE VERDICT

Probably sending all of it back. The only piece that MAY make the cut is the all black Papermoon Sabrina Yoke Detail Blouse, but it honestly doesn't have much of a chance, either.

So, now what to wear for Christmas pictures in 2 days.....

My stylist IS listenting!!! Late October Stitch Fix is IN!

So, I was surprised when I returned home this morning to find a Stitch Fix box on my doorstep! Two in October makes it an extra fun month! It was a crazy busy morning with work, so I didn't really have time to peek until my lunch break, but I was REALLY happy when I opened it! So, here we go!

The FIRST item I pulled out of the box was this 41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse for $58.

Initial Thoughts: I love the color. I also love the style of the shirt because I have another one just like it that is blue and white patterned. Not 100% sure I want 2 shirts so similar, but I do obviously really like it!

The SECOND item I pulled out of the box was this 41Hawthorn Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer for $78.

Initial Thoughts: Hmmm....a Blazer. Not sure i've ever owned a blazer, but this seems super cute and an interesting material. No shoulder pads and polyester like I envision blazers.

The THIRD item I pulled out of the box was this pair of Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans for $98.

Initial Thoughts: My stylist had asked me how I felt about colored skinny jeans and I told her i'd try some out, but I wanted to keep them a dark color. So, she pretty much nailed it. They are really soft and a pretty deep brown color. I'm starting to get away from my aversion of skinny jeans realizing that you don't have to be stick thin to wear them.

The FOURTH item I pulled out of the box was this Brixton Ivy Cherelle Dress for $68.

Initial Thoughts: Initially, I really thought this was the ugliest print i'd ever seen...but then I started putting it together with pieces from my wardrobe and thought it might end up being really cute. Not sure about the length or the button down front...but we'll try it.

The FIFTH item I pulled out was this Pixley Nilla Button Back Sweater for $68.

Initial Thoughts; I absolutely LOVE the color and the button down back. It just screams FALL to me. Plus, it's suuuuper soft and the stitch pattern is really cute.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

So, I was really curious about the dress and the outfit I pulled together in my head, so I tried it FIRST.

I paired it with my own navy leggings, brown boots, and a brown pendant necklace. I honestly REALLY like this look! The leggings are a must with the length and the button front for me to feel comfortable. It's light and airy and really feels nice. I think this could be dress up or dress down depending on the occasion. The only thing is that the belt loop on the right side is broken...so, i'm not spending $68 on a dress that is broken.

The SECOND outfit I tried on was the Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans and Pixley Nilla Button Back Sweater.

I paired these two together because the brown and mustard colors worked really well together. With my brown boots and brown necklace to complete the outfit, I REALLY love this. Really.

The THIRD outfit I tried was the 41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse and brown jeans.

Again, I love the color combination here. The turquoise top really pops with the brown jeans. I didn't think the turquoise was a very fall-ish color, but I see it now paired with these jeans.

The FOURTH outfit I tried was the 41Hawthorn Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer and the brown jeans.

So, I was kind of clueless as to what went with this blazer since i've never owned one. Doesn't matter a whole lot because I didn't like the fit. It was about 2 inches too short for my tastes.

THE VERDICT

1) 41Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse - still on the fence with this one. I really like it paired with the brown jeans, but again - for $58, do I really want a shirt so similar to one I already own? I'll think on this one.

2) 41Hawthorn Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer - going back. For $78, the fit just isn't right and i'm not sure what to do with it. It did peak my interest, but it just didn't work out.

3) Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jean - keeping. I really like the color of these and how soft the material is.

4) Brixton Ivy Cherelle Dress - I want to keep this if I can have a replacement shipped to me at no charge. Not keeping a $68 dress if it's got a defect, as minor as it is.

5) Pixley Nilla Button Back Sweater - keeping. No question about it. I LOVE it and can't wait to wear it!

October Friday Fix!

Ok, so my Fix really came yesterday, but I was traveling for work and didn't get home until late, so I didn't do much with it until this morning when the boys headed off to school. Elliott was pretty excited about my October Fix!

I was really excited about my stylists note that there were NO tank tops in this order and it was "only fall clothes and warm colors". Awesome, because that's what I asked for! I am trying to give really good feedback each month so that next month I get a more "fitting" box of goodies. This month, I feel like an effort was made....but still missed the mark a bit.

So, let's get to it!

The FIRST item I pulled out was this Brixton Ivy Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan for $68.
Initial thoughts - it's super soft and heavy and cozy, but it's grey....bland, boring, grey....how many months have I been saying I want COLOR!?!?!?

The SECOND item I pulled was this Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater for $84.
Initial thoughts - I pinned this EXACT sweater to my pin board! I love when they send me something I really wanted! It's super cute and a weird (but fun) material. I can't really explain it, but I knew out of the box I was probably keeping this one....even though it's the most expensive thing in this Fix. Go figure.

The THIRD item I pulled was this 41Hawthorn Colibri Solit Tab Sleeve Blouse for $48.
Initial thoughts - Ooooh - 41Hawthorn has been my favorite brand....but....AWESOME...I pretty much DESPISE Hunter Green. Plus, the top is pretty boring aside from the tab sleeves. Probably going back....

The FOURTH item I pulled was this 19 Cooper Rosetta V-Neck Top for $64.
Initial thoughts - Good color, but I hate the pattern, the material feels cheep, and it looks way too short for me. Most likely going back...

The FIFTH and final item in this fix is a pair of Liverpool Denise Bootcut Jeans for $78.
Initial thoughts - I don't own black jeans....for good reason. Something about the smell of black denim that just gets to me. No matter how many times you wash them, they still smell. Anyone agree?

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The FIRST outfit I tried was the Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater and the Liverpool Denise Bootcut Jeans.
Thoughts - I really wanted to like this sweater...but it just was NOT flattering. With my hips, if it's not fitted a little, it just looks boxy...and this is exactly what's happening here. The jeans....sooooo comfy. Perfect fit, but still black and smelly.

The SECOND outfit I tried was the Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater and the black jeans.
Thoughts - I'll probably never wear this with black jeans....because these black jeans are probably going back, but I LOVE the sweater. It's warm and comfy and while it's not fitted, it still has a bit of shape that works with my figure.

The THIRD outfit I tried was the 19 Cooper Rosetta V-Neck Top and black jeans.
Thoughts - just as I thought. The cut of this shirt is too boxy and short. It does nothing to flatter my figure. Plus, I really just hate the print and the material.

The FOURTH and final outfit I tried on was the 41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse and black jeans.
Thoughts - I don't know why, but last night when I was thinking about this shirt, I kept going back to pairing it with a yellow necklace. I was hoping it would work without making me look like a Packers fan. So, With the necklace, I really kind of loved this shirt. SURPRISE! Right? It was comfy, flowy (but just enough of a shape), and really flattering. Plus, I actually REALLY liked it with the black jeans! BIGGER SURPRISE! I have yellow shoes that would complete this outfit....too much?

THE VERDICT

1) Brixton Ivy Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan - going back. I wanted to love it, but I just didn't.

2) Parkhurst Jeffrey Waffle Knit Colorblock Sweater - KEEPING

3) 19 Cooper Rosetta V-Neck Top - going back. I hate almost everything about this shirt.

4) 41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse - keeping. I'm surprised, but I really like it...hunter green and all. Not to say I wouldn't like it BETTER in another color, but I think this is a good step out of my "norm" for me, and that's kind of the point, right?

5) Liverpool Denise Bootcut Jean - I'm really on the fence here. If it weren't for how they looked with the green shirt, they'd for sure be going back. Not sure I can justify a $78 pair of jeans that I don't love, though. Plus, this shirt will look just as good with the several (I mean...tons) of dark denim jeans I have. So, still mulling it over, but pretty sure these are going back.

So, an interesting fix and a mix of good, bad, and surprises! Looking forward to more fall and winter Fixes in coming months!

September Fix - Just so so....

Again, I was really excited when my Stitch Fix showed up at my door today. Bonus: my new shoes, came, too!

I had mixed feelings as I pulled the items out of the box and I was surprised a little by what I liked and didn't like. SO, let's get to it.

The FIRST thing I pulled out of the box was this 31 Bits Evergreen Dream Multi-Bead Necklace for $52.

Initial Thoughts - This is the ugliest necklace i've ever seen and there's no way I would spend $52 on it. It's SO not my style. But, at least it has bits of color.

The SECOND thing I pulled out of the box was this Kut from the Kloth Caleb Dress for $68.

Initial Thoughts - I love the idea of a dress, the colors, and the pattern, but I specifically said no tank tops. So, even though it's a dress, it's still a tank top and requires a strapless bra. So, initially, I wanted to hate it because I was annoyed that my stylist overlooked that request.

The THIRD thing I pulled out of the box was this Fun2Fun Rooney Split Neck Top for $44.

Initial Thoughts - Again, I thought this might be the ugliest thing I'd ever seen. The flower pattern just really doesn't go with the other diamond pattern and the colors don't even go together.

The FOURTH thing I pulled out of the box was this 41Hawthorn Moni Geo Print & Camisole Blouse for $58.

Initial thoughts - Ooooh...Love the color, pattern, and cut. Plus, It's the same brand as my favorite stitch fix item to date, so i'm pretty sure i'm going to love it...even for $58.

The FIFTH and final item I pulled out of the box was this Papermoon Lucasta Knit Top for $38.

Initial Thoughts - This is pretty plain and boring. It's so dark navy that it's almost black. The redeeming quality is the bright pink accents....but not sure it's enough for me.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The FIRST outfit I tried on was the Fun2Fun Rooney Split Neck Top with a pair of my own jeans.

Thoughts - I honestly like it a lot better than I thought I would. The material is nice and thin and super comfortable and it's a nice balance between casual and dressy. Still not sure of the pattern.

The SECOND outfit I tried on was the 41Hawthorn Moni Geo Print & Camisole Blouse with my jeans and the 31 Bits Evergreen Dream Multi-Bead Necklace.

Thoughts - I do love this shirt. Same cut as my other favorite shirt and I love sheer-ish tops with a cami underneath. The necklace isn't as awful as I initially thought it was....but I still don't like it.

The THIRD outfit I tried on was the Papermoon Lucasta Knit Top and my jeans.

Thoughts - The shirt is a little boxy and a bit too short for my tastes. There just isn't enough special about it and not near enough color.

The LAST outfit I tried on was the Kut from the Kloth Caleb Dress.

Thoughts - I WANTED to hate this because I said no tank tops and I really loathe the idea of a strapless bra...but it's so girly and pretty and flowy. It's surprisingly comfortable, too. With the right necklace and shoes, it could be a summer go-to....but, it's September.

THE VERDICT

1) 31 Bits Evergreen Dream Multi-Bead Necklace - Going back. I can't justify $52 on a statement necklace...especially one I don't LOVE.

2) Kut From the Kloth Caleb Dress - I'm torn on this one. Had I gotten it in May or June, I feel like I would have kept it no question. But, it's September and i'm really looking for more Fall style pieces.

3) Fun2Fun Rooney Split Neck Top - On the fence on this one, too. It's OK, but I don't love it. I like the idea of it I think...just not the actual patterns.

4) 41Hawthorn Moni Geo Print & Camisole Blouse - Keeping. I knew from the moment I pulled this one out of the box that I was keeping it. I really love the brand, color, cut, and style.

5) Papermoon Lucasta Knit Top - I think this one is going back. Again, it's just OK. For $38, I can't do OK.

SO - better than last month, but still kinda missed the mark for me. I'll be sending my stylist LOTS of feedback so that hopefully next month is a better fit for me!

August Stitch Fix. This one's a dud...

I totally forgot that my Stitch Fix was coming today, so it was an even nicer surprise when I opened my front door to get the mail and it was sitting there waiting for me!
The excitement quickly faded as I opened by box and was very underwhelmed by my stylist's picks for me this month.

So, let's get this over with.

The FIRST thing I pulled from the box was this cute Bay to Baubles Avalon Daisy Statement Necklace for $28.

Initial Thoughts - Well, my stylist listened about adding color to the accessories she sent me. I do really like it, but I have something pretty similar already.

The SECOND thing I pulled from the box was this Le Lis Nene Striped Midi Dress for $74.
Initial Thoughts - I was happy to finally see a dress in my fix, however I've said it a million times....I need COLOR. This is just too blah. Also, i've never heard of a midi dress.  My stylist's note said "The Le Lis dress is going to be a really fun dress for you. This midi length has realy made a comeback, and with your height, you can really pull this off"! Not sure about that, but we'll try it anyway!

The THIRD thing I pulled from the box was this Bash Anza Sweetheart Lace Neckline Blouse for $44.

Initial Thoughts - It's pretty dark and a little plain. It's navy blue with black lace and I feel like there's just not anything special about it.

The FOURTH thing I pulled from the box was this Pixley Luisa Printed Pencil Skirt for $58.
Initial Thoughts - Well, it's colorful enough and kind of interesting, but i'm not sure I have the body type for a pencil skirt. I've never owned one for good reason.

The FIFTH thing I pulled from the box was this Pixley Filagree Ribbon Tank for $48.
Initial Thoughts - It's kind of fun, but i'm really almost over tanktops as we near fall weather.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The FIRST outfit I tried on was the Le Lis Nene Striped Midi Dress with the Bay to Baubles Avalon Daisy Statement Necklace.
Thoughts - The necklace looks nice. This dress just seems silly to me. Regardless of my height, I don't like the length. At all. And the colors and pattern are boring. It's a jersey type material and I don't think it at all justifies the $74 price tag.

The SECOND outfit I tried on was the Bash Anza Sweetheart Lace Neckline Blouse and my own jean capris.

Thoughts - It fits. It's flattering. It's still boring.

The THIRD outfit I tried on was the Bash Anza Sweetheart Lace Neckline Blouse and Pixley Luisa Printed Pencil Skirt.

Thoughts - Well. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I thought the skirt would look horrid with my hips and booty, but it's actually slightly flattering. However, I just don't know if it's really up my alley. While my stylist said this was a good combo, I just don't see it. There's zero navy in the skirt and lots of black, so it just doesn't "go" for me.

The FOURTH outfit I tried on was the Pixley Filagree Ribbon Tank and my own jean capris.
Thoughts - You probably can't tell from the picture because I did lots of adjusting before taking this picture, but the top is HUGE. My bra was hanging out on the sides and back and there's no way even a strapless would work because it shifted too much every time I moved. Plus, I feel like the color washes me out.

THE VERDICT

I'll make this pretty short and sweet. I think it's all going back.

While i'm disappointed with this Fix, i'm still really looking forward to next month! This is such a fun way to shop for new clothes! The stylist might not always get it right, but in the end, i'm trying lots of things that I probably would pick on my own. Some are wins. Some aren't. Still tons of fun!
